Jordan receives 39 bids for Iraqi oil supply7/8/2009 6:16:00 PM
AMMAN, July 8 (KUNA) --
The Jordanian government has received technical and financial offers from 39 companies for supplying Iraqi oil to Jordan, an official said here Wednesday.The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is expected to select the best bid within 10 days' time, a ministry spokesman told KUNA.
Of the 39 companies, three are Iraqi and the others are Jordanian, he said.
Iraq sells oil to Jordan at preferential prices under a bilateral agreement signed in 2006.A Jordanian oil company has been carrying 10,000 out of a total of 30,000 tons of Iraqi oil to Jordan since December 2008 on a daily basis. Jordan cannot get the remaining quantity due to logistic conditions.
A total of 2.5 million oil tons have been carried from Iraq to Jordan from December 24 to early July 2009, according to the company's figures. (end) ab.mt KUNA 081816 Jul 09NNNN
